Earlier this month, MVA students made a splash on the world stage at the AIDUCATION'26 Conference in Bucharest, coming second in the Create.Code.Change. Competition against a field of more than 3000 students from over 40 schools across 19 countries.
The competition challenged students to research a UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and use vibe-coding within Canva to build a functional app, applying technical skills and AI to tackle real world problems.
The MVA team chose to focus on the pressing issue of Clean Water and Sanitation, and built a gamified learning tool that encourages the user to learn about water equity through a series of quizzes and games that tracks your progress and rewards you with badges for your performance.
MVA AI Lead Bethany Ewen-Firman was particularly impressed with the team's dedication to inclusivity, saving:
What truly impressed me as their club lead was the team's commitment to accessibility. They didn't just build a cool app; they built a tool for everyone. Their project included language translation for a global audience, customisable visual modes and screen reader support, and dyslexia-friendly fonts to ensure total inclusivity.
The judges, too, were deeply impressed, saying that MVA's app was:
One of the most polished and thoughtful in the entire competition.
This extra polish won the team the The UI/UX Master Certificate (a special award for Best Visual Design & Flow), and it's not hard to see why.
We at MVA HQ are also all deeply proud of the team for this achievement, especially in their commitment to core MVA values of fairness and equity even when vibe-coding an app.
A massive well done to all.
If you'd like to check out the app for yourself, you can do so here.
